With “Tarlo,” Il Bacio della Medusa returns with a new album consisting of nine tracks, in which the band preserves the rock energy and spirit that have always defined their career, while at the same time demonstrating a renewed compositional and expressive maturity.
The sounds and arrangements are enriched with new harmonic and timbral elements, without losing the natural fluidity of the song form, which has always been one of the band’s strengths. The piano takes center stage, accompanied by classical instruments and electric parts that help create an eclectic and nuanced work.
The album’s central theme is encapsulated in its title: the “woodworm” serves as a metaphor for the thought that slowly gnaws at the human soul, instilling anxieties, doubts, and questions. It is the seed of rebellion and inner transformation, but also a reflection of the contradictions of contemporary society, which continually challenge certainties, identities, and individual freedoms. Through nine tracks with a powerful emotional and musical impact, “Tarlo” takes the listener on a journey of confrontation with what consumes us from within, but also with that very same unease that can become an impulse for change.
The album concludes the socially conscious trilogy that began with “Seme” and reaffirms Il Bacio della Medusa as one of the most personal and recognizable acts on the Italian prog scene: a work in which rock energy, narrative depth, and musical experimentation coexist in perfect balance.
